The Stagg EKG Pro is a tool for people who already like making coffee by hand. It is not a shortcut to liking it. The case for spending the money is narrow: a slow, repeatable pour removes a problem you meet several times a week.
The Matte Black Stagg Pro is $239.00 in Canadian dollars on Amazon.ca, sold by Fellow Industries and shipped by Amazon. At that price the decision mostly turns on whether the habit already exists: a beginner's first money goes further on coffee they like and a recipe they can repeat. The kettle gets easier to justify once those are settled.
Our verdict
Worth considering at $239 for an established pour-over routine; poor value as a general household kettle.
- A good fit for
- Someone who brews manually most days and already knows why a controlled pour matters to them.
- We would skip it if
- You mainly fill large teapots, prepare instant drinks, or are buying equipment before developing a coffee habit.
Reasons to consider it
- Temperature selection and hold settings remove a repeated setup task
- The slow-pour spout serves a specific brewing purpose
The compromises
- The 0.9-litre capacity limits larger batches
- The premium buys control and convenience, not a demonstrated improvement in flavour
- Fellow's warranty page and the Amazon.ca listing give different warranty terms
What we have not verified: Temperature accuracy, heating time, pouring comfort and long-term reliability are unchecked, and the warranty term on a Canadian order (one year or two) needs confirming with Fellow.
The things in this guide
A closer look at the products, who they may suit, and what to check before buying.

Stagg EKG Pro Electric Kettle
Variable temperature and a deliberate pour simplify a routine you already run several mornings a week.
Before you buy: The 0.9-litre capacity and slow spout are compromises for general kitchen use, and the temperature performance rests on the listing's own description.
Price checked October 17, 2026. Retailer prices can change.A coffee tool does not have to be your only kettle
The listing describes a pointed spout for a precise stream and a counterbalanced handle that encourages a slower pour. Slow is the point when you are wetting a coffee bed. Slow is a nuisance when the job is filling a teapot. Count which of those two your week is mostly made of.
Capacity has to cover rinse water as well as the drink, and two people brewing separately need more than the cup count suggests. If the Stagg means keeping a second kettle for everything else, the counter space belongs in the price.
Do not pay for a connected feature you have imagined
The Amazon.ca title says 'WiFi Smart Scheduling'. Fellow's own FAQ is plainer: the EKG Updater app delivers occasional firmware updates, the kettle works without it, and the app cannot control the kettle or its settings. Anyone expecting to start heating from a phone should check that distinction before ordering.
Finer control does not guarantee better coffee either. Repeatability tells you what changed between two cups. It does not pick the beans, write the recipe, or decide whether you liked the result.
Our buying rule: establish the habit first
Starting from scratch, brew on an inexpensive dripper with whatever kettle the kitchen already has and keep notes for a couple of weeks. Buy the dedicated kettle when pouring or water temperature is the thing actually holding the cup back. In that order, a $239.00 appliance never becomes an expensive bet on a hobby you turn out not to have.
If the habit is established, settle the warranty before paying. Fellow's warranty page lists two years for the Stagg EKG Pro and accepts claims on purchases from Fellow or authorized retailers in Canada, with the original receipt. The Amazon.ca listing says one year, plus a second year for registration that Fellow offers only for US purchases. The listing's model number also ends in -US. Keep the receipt and ask Fellow which term applies to a Canadian order.
The verdict is conditional: a defensible daily upgrade for someone who brews by hand, an unnecessary expense in most other kitchens. Measured temperature drift or awkward handling in a real trial would change it, whatever the feature list says.
