Vitruvi Stone Diffuser Review: The Canadian Discount Comes With a Store-Credit Clause

vitruvi.ca lists the White Stone at $127.99 against a $159.99 compare-at, but a discounted unit there returns only for store credit; amazon.ca, sold by vitruvi, had White at $121.59 with a 30-day refund.

THE SHORT VERSION

vitruvi.ca is a Canadian storefront in its own right, priced in Canadian dollars as the base currency rather than converting a US cart at checkout. On October 26, 2026 the Stone Diffuser read $127.99 in White against a $159.99 compare-at price with no end date posted, $159.99 in Black, and the Suede finish showed sold out. Under the ceramic sits a standard water-tank ultrasonic: a 70 ml reservoir, a 4-hour continuous setting rated at 1 fluid ounce of mist an hour, an 8-hour intermittent mode that pulses 30 seconds on and 30 off, and automatic shut-off when the timer ends or the water runs out.

The same store sells a $34.99 plug-in wall diffuser and a $184.99 cordless model, so the Stone's $159.99 list marks the middle of vitruvi's Canadian range — the tier you buy for how it looks. Outside the brand, amazon.ca lists a basic 100 ml InnoGear ultrasonic at $31.77, shipped and sold by Amazon US. The near-hundred-dollar gap in between buys ceramic, colourways and a published output figure — and one clause in the returns tab decides how easy it is to change your mind.

Our verdict

At $159.99 list the Stone sells a ceramic object that happens to diffuse; a standard tank-and-timer ultrasonic starts at $31.77 on amazon.ca. The premium buys shelf presence, not mist.

A good fit for
A visible bedroom or living room in a Canadian home, where the ceramic object will be seen daily and the oil habit runs on vitruvi's own blends.
We would skip it if
The unit will live out of sight, the oil bill is the deciding number, or the design premium reads as money you would rather spend on oil.

Reasons to consider it

  • Matte ceramic teardrop designed to stay on display, sold in Canada in White and Black, with Suede shown sold out on October 26, 2026
  • Published mist output per setting — 1 fl. oz./hour on 4-hour continuous, 0.40 on 8-hour intermittent — a figure most budget listings never state
  • Automatic shut-off when the timer ends or the water runs out, and vitruvi.ca waives shipping on carts over $95

The compromises

  • The 70 ml tank holds less than the 100 ml of the $31.77 basic unit on amazon.ca, and the Stone runs corded with no battery
  • One-year warranty that excludes accidental damage; the discounted White bought on vitruvi.ca returns only for store credit, within 20 days by the listing and 15 by the FAQ
  • Oil adds a recurring line: two 15 ml bottles of blend a month run $47.98 to $75.98 at current Canadian prices

What we have not verified: The 500 sq ft rating and the per-setting output figures are vitruvi's own, no side-by-side test against a plastic unit happened, and on those figures the 70 ml tank runs dry well before the timers end. Neither the $127.99 price nor the $95 shipping threshold carried a stated end date on October 26, 2026.

The design tier of vitruvi's Canadian range

Vitruvi Stone Diffuser

A matte ceramic teardrop with a published output figure and a 500 sq ft room rating, listed at $127.99 in White against a $159.99 compare-at on vitruvi.ca.

Before you buy: Bought on vitruvi.ca, the discounted White returns only for store credit, the warranty runs one year, and two bottles of blend a month adds $47.98 to $75.98 to the running bill.

vitruvi.ca is its own store, with its own price list

Canada is not an afterthought on vitruvi.ca: the storefront's base currency is CAD, and prices read as Canadian dollars from the first page. On October 26, 2026 the White Stone carried $127.99 against a $159.99 compare-at with no closing date attached, Black held $159.99 in stock, and Suede showed sold out at the same $159.99. Orders over $95 ship free, which a single diffuser clears on its own.

The shell is most of what you are paying for: matte ceramic over BPA-free plastic, 8.7 cm across, 18 cm tall, 1.1 pounds on the scale. Inside is the ordinary machine — a 70 ml water tank, two timer settings, and a shut-off that fires when the timer ends or the water runs dry. The cord runs USB-C at the base to a USB-A plug, and the box holds no power adapter, so the brick on a charger you already own does the wall plugging.

Where $127.99 sits in the Canadian market

vitruvi's own Canadian ladder gives the first anchor. The Push Plug-In Wall Diffuser is the plug-in entry at $34.99, a two-pack lists at $55.98, and the cordless Air model tops it at $184.99. The Stone at $159.99 list — $127.99 in the discounted White — is the middle tier, priced for the material and the silhouette rather than for mist volume.

Outside the brand, the plastic floor sits low. Amazon.ca lists the InnoGear basic 100 ml unit at $31.77, in stock, ships from and sold by Amazon US, with the same 30-second mist-and-pause intermittent mode, a waterless auto-off and a bigger tank than the Stone's. Set the two side by side and the Stone's Canadian list runs five times higher, the discounted White four — which frames what the remaining $96 to $128 is actually buying.

The published output, set against a 70 ml tank

Vitruvi publishes what most budget listings never state: an output rate per setting. The 4-hour continuous mode is rated at 1 fluid ounce an hour — about 30 ml — and the 8-hour intermittent mode at 0.40, misting 30 seconds and resting 30. Set those figures beside the 70 ml tank and they do not close: about 2.4 hours of continuous mist, under six intermittent. The shut-off triggers on an empty tank, so on a full session expect the water, not the timer, to end it.

The 500 sq ft room rating is vitruvi's own figure, printed on a 70 ml machine, and no independent figure backs it up. Plan by the size of the room the unit actually sits in, not by the printed maximum.

The oil, priced in Canadian dollars

Vitruvi's blends on vitruvi.ca come in 15 ml bottles spanning $23.99 to $37.99. Love In The Air, Sweet Water and Comfort sit at $23.99, marked down from $31.99; Ceremony is $28.49 from $37.99; Sleep, Citrus Blossom, Après and Legacy hold $37.99; the rest of the line reads $31.99. There is no proprietary cartridge — the Stone takes any essential oil, so the tie to vitruvi liquids is preference, not hardware.

The brand's own comparison chart puts the Stone at 20 to 30 drops of oil per session. One 20-drop session a day works out to about 30 ml a month at the usual drops-per-millilitre approximation — two 15 ml bottles, which is $47.98 at the marked-down price, $63.98 at $31.99 and $75.98 at the top of the range. At any of those doses, the oil line passes the hardware price within a few months.

One-year warranty, and the store-credit clause on the sale price

The FAQ on vitruvi.ca states a one-year warranty on all devices, diffusers included, and draws the exclusions plainly: no coverage for misplaced or lost parts, accidental damage, incorrect use, or units from dealers vitruvi has not authorized. Accidents have Canadian prices — a replacement ceramic cover lists at $36.00, a spare power cord at $15.00, an inner lid at $10.99.

Returns are where the Canadian discount bites. Full-price diffusers can be exchanged or returned within 30 days of purchase, subject to a handling fee. Discounted hardware returns only for store credit — within 20 days by the listing's returns tab, 15 by the FAQ — and the $127.99 White is a discounted unit, so on vitruvi.ca the money-back path is closed to it. Amazon.ca sells the same White for $121.59, sold by vitruvi and shipped by Amazon, with a 30-day refund or replacement: cheaper, and with the cash route intact.

The premium maps to whether the room is seen

Nothing in the gap between $31.77 and $127.99 measures as performance: the tank is smaller, the timer settings are the same shape, and the published output figure cuts against the runtime claims. What the money buys is an object — matte ceramic, a teardrop silhouette, colourways meant to stay on a shelf. In a bedroom or living room that guests and mornings actually see, that object is the product. On a laundry shelf, a $34.99 plug-in from the same store exists for rooms nobody designs around.

Run cost stays identical across the gap, because the Stone takes the same everyday oils as any basic unit; vitruvi's own blends are a preference purchase, not a requirement. Decide by the shelf, by the oil budget, and — if the White is the colour — by channel: the vitruvi-sold amazon.ca listing undercuts the brand store and keeps a cash refund.
