THE SHORT VERSION

The RÅSKOG is the cart people picture when they say IKEA cart: three deep steel trays, a tubular frame, four casters and a high rim around each tray. In Canada it is 45 cm wide, 35 cm deep and 77 cm tall, costs $39.99 and comes in white.

The numbers that matter sit under the measurements: 6 kg (13 lb) a tier, 18 kg (40 lb) in total, and casters that lock. They decide whether this is a rolling pantry, a craft station or a bedside table — and they rule out heavy stores.

Our verdict

Buy it for a measured gap where the cart rolls daily and carries light things. For tins, pans or a workshop, 6 kg a tier is too little.

A good fit for
A kitchen, bathroom or desk corner with a measured gap, where the cart is moved and parked again most days.
We would skip it if
More than 6 kg a tier, food straight on the tray, outdoor use, or a spot where it will never move.

Reasons to consider it

  • Lockable casters that hold the cart where it is parked.
  • A compact 45 × 35 cm footprint at 77 cm tall, with three lipped trays.
  • Steel with an epoxy powder coat, in a 6.83 kg package.

The compromises

  • 6 kg a tier and 18 kg in total; a case of tins is over the line.
  • Indoor use only and not approved for food contact.
  • No product-specific warranty is stated on the page.

What we have not verified: Not tested: caster noise on hard floors, how the frame behaves under constant load, and how the coating copes with bathroom humidity.

For a measured gap that needs brakes

RÅSKOG Utility Cart · 305.867.83

Three lipped steel trays, lockable casters, 45 × 35 × 77 cm and a 6 kg rating per tier, for $39.99.

Before you buy: 6 kg a tier, no food contact, indoor only, and no product-specific warranty.

Three tiers, 6 kg a tray

At 45 cm wide, 35 cm deep and 77 cm tall, the top tray sits a little below counter height. IKEA rates each tier at 6 kg and the whole cart at 18 kg. That covers spices, utensils, cosmetics or paper; it does not cover a case of tins or a stack of cast-iron pans.

The trays have high sides, so jars do not roll off. The cart is for indoor use and is not approved for food contact, so bread or fruit goes in a bowl on the tray rather than straight on the steel.

Casters with brakes and a light package

The casters lock, which holds the cart against a wall when it is not in use. On tile or a slightly sloping floor, that is the difference between a stable stand and a cart that rolls away when you lean on it.

The package weighs 6.83 kg and measures 34 × 15 × 46 cm; the finish is epoxy powder on steel. Care is a soft cloth dampened with water and, if needed, a mild dish soap.

What 6 kg a tier rules out

Three tiers invite you to treat the cart as shelving. IKEA rates each tray at 6 kg and the cart at 18 kg, so three fully loaded tiers already reach the total. For stacked groceries you need a shelf or a cart with a higher rating.

In daily use the limit rarely bites: utensils, stationery, cables and chargers are light. It bites at moving time, after a shop, or with tools. Read the 18 kg as a ceiling, not a target.

Returns, delivery and cover

The product page states 365-day returns; the conditions live in the returns policy. No product-specific warranty for the RÅSKOG is named, so consumer law is the fallback. The page says nothing about bathroom humidity.

Delivery cost is shown at checkout; the 6.83 kg package is easy to carry from a store.

When to skip it

If a tier has to hold more than 6 kg, this is the wrong cart. It is also not intended for food straight on the tray, for a balcony or a patio. And if what you really need is a shelf, the casters and brakes are a feature you will not use.

For a measured gap in a kitchen, bathroom or study, with light things used every day, $39.99 is fair. Measure first: 45 cm wide and 35 cm deep is less generous than it looks.
