In this guide
The plastic V60 02 is a cheap way to find out whether you enjoy making coffee by hand. It is not a way to make better coffee by owning a famous cone.
What £7.95 buys is permission to experiment before committing to a machine. That has value only for someone inclined to experiment. If the goal is the same cup every morning with no decisions in it, a different method is the better purchase even at a higher price.
Our verdict
A sensible entry to manual brewing if you enjoy adjusting a process; less suitable if you want coffee with minimal attention.
- A good fit for
- A curious coffee drinker willing to repeat a recipe and change one variable at a time.
- We would skip it if
- You need to serve several large mugs while doing other tasks, or dislike buying and disposing of paper filters.
Reasons to consider it
- The £7.95 checked price keeps the initial commitment modest
- A simple brewer makes individual changes to a recipe easier to observe
The compromises
- The dripper price excludes the rest of the brewing setup
- The result depends on your preparation and pouring routine
What we have not verified: No blind tasting, no extraction measurement, no durability comparison between the plastic, glass and ceramic versions.

V60 Coffee Dripper · 02
A modest starting point for anyone who wants to control the brew rather than press a button.
Before you buy: Budget for size-02 filters and the rest of the setup. The listed four-cup capacity is not four large travel mugs.
Price checked 17 October 2026. Retailer prices can change. An open design gives you responsibility
The listing describes a cone with spiral ribs, made for brewing clean coffee for one to four people. Read that as flexibility with a bill attached: the method is yours now. Nothing in the cone compensates for a rushed pour.
Which is what makes it a good teacher. Keep the coffee, the water and the sequence fixed for a week before changing anything. Change three variables at once and the result is just a different cup, not a lesson.
The low sticker price is not the whole setup
The checked price for the plastic 02 is £7.95, against a £9.00 RRP, shipped and sold by Amazon with free returns within 30 days. The listing gives a capacity of four cups. Treat that as a guide to the brewer’s range, not a pledge to fill four oversized mugs in one session.
Still needed: size-02 paper, which the same listing pairs with the dripper at £4.99 per 100 (£12.94 for both), coffee, something stable to brew into and hot water. A scale helps with repeatability and can be the kitchen scale you already have. Write the list of what you own before deciding the dripper is cheap.
More expensive material does not settle the taste question
Start with plastic unless looks, handling or a material preference gives a clear reason not to. The same listing page shows the ceramic size 02 at £23.74 against £25.50 before the reduction, roughly three times the plastic price. That gap buys no verdict on the cup: nothing here compares the materials, and neither ceramic nor glass has a claim on the better one.
For a first brewer the low commitment is the feature. If pour-over does not survive contact with your mornings, the lesson cost under eight pounds. If it does, the material question can be answered later with better information.
Spend the next pound on the current limitation
When a brew disappoints, the next accessory is rarely the answer. Check first whether the coffee was different, the grind was old, or the pour was hurried. A recipe written on an index card costs nothing and fixes more cups than new equipment does.
A slow-pour kettle becomes worth buying when water control is the specific thing limiting the cup. Bought first, it answers a question nobody has asked yet.
So the recommendation is about fit rather than ranking. Buy the V60 to take part in making the drink. If the point is coffee arriving while your attention is elsewhere, buy for that instead of trying to become this brewer’s ideal owner.
