YETI Tundra 35 Review: What £250 Buys That an £80 Cool Box Does Not

At £250 on uk.yeti.com, the Tundra 35 buys rotomolded construction, a bearproof design IGBC approved with padlocks and a five-year warranty, not capacity: it fits 39 cans, an £80 Igloo about 41.

THE SHORT VERSION

The YETI Tundra 35 is the smallest hard cool box in the Tundra line: a rotomolded box 53.6 cm wide and 9.7 kg empty, with a removable dry-goods basket. On uk.yeti.com it listed at £250.00 on 2026-10-16, in White among the core colours, marked In Stock with Add to Bag live.

The decision is what paying three times the £80 of Go Outdoors' Igloo Latitude 30qt actually purchases. On YETI's product and warranty pages, the answer is structure and coverage rather than volume: the Tundra is the bigger box on the outside and holds fewer cans.

Our verdict

Buy the white Tundra 35 at £250 from uk.yeti.com when the cool box rides in boats and camps every weekend; for picnics and barbecues, Go Outdoors lists Igloo's 28-litre Latitude at £80.

A good fit for
Small crews who boat, camp or fish most weekends, haul a cool box over rough ground, and want bear-resistant construction backed by a five-year warranty.
We would skip it if
Picnic and barbecue buyers an £80 Igloo covers, shoppers choosing capacity by the number in the name, and anyone who needs a published ice-retention rating.

Reasons to consider it

  • Rotomolded shell with up to three inches (7.6 cm) of PermaFrost insulation, the construction the price buys
  • Bearproof design IGBC approved when used with extra-long-shank Master Lock padlocks
  • Five-year warranty on the Tundra line, against three years for Hopper soft coolers

The compromises

  • Outside, the 35 measures 53.6 x 40.4 x 39.1 cm and fits 39 cans; the Igloo is 45 x 43 x 38 cm and lists about 41
  • 9.7 kg empty before any ice, with 13.2 kg of ice the stated fill
  • YETI's page says ice for days but gives no hours or days figure, so multi-day performance has no stated rating

What we have not verified: YETI's UK page gives ice capacity (13.2 kg) and can count but no interior dimensions and no retention-time figure, so the step up from an £80 foam-insulated box cannot be priced per day of ice. Only white was priced in depth.

The hard cool box worth £250 when boats, camps and bear country are routine

Tundra 35 Hard Cooler

£250.00 at uk.yeti.com (White, checked 2026-10-16) buys the rotomolded Tundra 35: up to three inches of PermaFrost insulation, IGBC approval with extra-long-shank Master Lock padlocks, tie-down slots and a five-year warranty. Value only for buyers whose use includes those conditions.

Before you buy: It fits 39 cans in a larger outer shell than a 28-litre Igloo, weighs 9.7 kg empty, the padlocks and accessories cost extra, and no ice-retention figure is published.

The 35 is a name, not a capacity

YETI's UK page gives the Tundra 35's outside as 53.6 x 40.4 x 39.1 cm and its contents as 39 cans or 13.2 kg of ice, never both. Go Outdoors lists Igloo's Latitude 30qt at 45 x 43 x 38 cm, 28 litres and about 41 cans of 330 ml. YETI states no can size and no interior dimensions, so the counts are not a like-for-like test; they do show a cheaper box that is smaller outside and holds at least as many cans by the listed numbers.

One removable dry-goods basket keeps bread or a phone above the meltwater. Read the 35 as a place in the lineup (the 45 is £325.00 on the same store), not a promise about volume.

What the extra £170 buys

The premium is construction. The Tundra's shell is rotomolded, the construction YETI describes as virtually indestructible, around a FatWall body holding up to three inches of PermaFrost insulation. The lid closes over a ColdLock gasket on an InterLock frame, and the hinge uses two pins in an interlocking design YETI calls NeverFail.

The Go Outdoors page for the Igloo describes THERMECOOL foam, a Cool Riser base and a lid that doubles as a seat, and gives no insulation thickness, gasket or hinge details to set against those. What the two pages let you compare is stated construction, not performance.

Built for bear country, sized for a small crew

YETI's page calls the bearproof design IGBC approved when used with extra-long-shank Master Lock padlocks. The approval applies to the locked box, not the box alone, and the padlocks are on you. For a camp in bear country that is a concrete, checkable claim rather than a toughness adjective.

The same page frames the 35 as the pick for a small crew's day, one that fits an inner tube or a 4-wheeler, and lists BearFoot non-slip feet and AnchorPoint tie-down slots for boats, trailers and truck beds. At 9.7 kg empty, plus up to 13.2 kg of ice, it is a two-handed carry once loaded.

Five years of warranty, with exclusions

YETI's UK warranty text puts the Tundra in its five-year group; Hopper soft coolers get three. It is a goodwill warranty from YETI (Europe) Limited and, as the page says, leaves your legal rights on faulty or misdescribed products untouched. Four conditions attach: purchase from a YETI authorised dealer, proof of the purchase date, return of the product to YETI, and use as intended per the care instructions.

The remedy is repair or replacement at YETI's discretion. Punctures, scratches, normal wear, third-party modifications and the natural breakdown of colours and materials are not warranted, so the cover is for structure, not cosmetics. The Go Outdoors page for the Igloo states no warranty term to compare.

The full cost, with accessories

The sticker is £250.00, but the working setup costs more. YETI UK sells the Tundra divider for the 35/45 at £25.00 and a 450 g YETI Ice Block at £15.00, which brings the total to £275 with the divider and £290 with the ice block as well. The Tie-Down Kit is a further £50.00, and the padlocks the bear approval assumes are not priced on the pages read.

The comparison box does the same sum in miniature: Go Outdoors lists the Igloo at £80.00 retail, or £55.00 with its £5-a-year membership card. Delivery on YETI's store is free over £50, so the box itself ships without a delivery charge.

When an £80 cool box is the answer

Skip the Tundra when the cool box's job is a Saturday at the park or drinks for one barbecue. The Igloo's listing counts about 41 cans against the Tundra's 39, in a shell that is 8.6 cm narrower, and it costs £80.00.

Also skip it when the plan needs a rated retention figure: YETI's page says ice for days but publishes no hours-or-days number for the Tundra 35, so multi-day planning rests on the insulation spec and how you manage ice. Buyers who simply want the most contents per pound should note that the cheaper Igloo is the better value on the numbers listed.
