In this guide
A price on a large appliance covers the object and stops there. Getting a 96 lb carton from a delivery truck to a cabinet opening, connecting it to power and water, and removing the machine it replaces are three further jobs, and a maker's service pages say which of them the price includes, which are sold as extras and which are left entirely to the buyer. Read before ordering, those pages turn a $399 sticker into a landed cost.
Two IKEA items at the same $399, the LAGAN dishwasher and the VALEVÅG Queen mattress, are read here for their delivery tiers, installation terms and removal fees, using IKEA's own delivery and removal pages. Two countertop machines, the Zojirushi NS-TSC10 at $229.99 and the Instant Pot Duo 6 qt, sit alongside them as the contrast: a box that ships by parcel, needs no installer and has no old unit to haul away, and whose warranty shipping terms each maker states in print.
The things in this guide
A closer look at the products, who they may suit, and what to check before buying.

LAGAN Built-in Dishwasher, White, 24 in (005.876.23)
IKEA's LAGAN ships as a 96 lb 2 oz carton without a cord or plug, and IKEA's text assigns the fitting to a qualified installer, so the landed cost is the appliance plus a large item delivery tier, the cord kit, the installer's fee and $30 if the old machine is to be removed.
Before you buy: Appliance removal is booked in store only, with in-home delivery, in select markets, and is not guaranteed on the same day as the delivery; an online order has no removal option at all.

VALEVÅG Pocket Spring Mattress, Medium Firm, Queen (505.118.57)
The VALEVÅG Queen is roll-packed into a 65 3/4 inch tube weighing 76 lb 12 oz, which is why it can leave the store in a car, and IKEA's in-home delivery tiers include setting up a mattress and removing its packaging.
Before you buy: Mattress removal is a $30 in-store add-on in select markets; in CA, CT, OR and RI it is free with delivery and a recycling fee is charged at purchase; a one-time 90 day exchange means a wrong firmness pick becomes a second delivery, not a refund.

Micom Rice Cooker & Warmer NS-TSC10 · 5.5 cup, Stainless Brown
Zojirushi's store includes shipping and handling on the $229.99 NS-TSC10 within the continental US, and its electrical warranty page says "This warranty includes shipping fees. Packaging fees are not included." without specifying which legs, which is still the most complete set of logistics terms among the four.
Before you buy: Electric products ship to the continental US only, an order can be canceled for one hour after placing it, and a return is accepted only unopened with the buyer paying the return postage.

Duo 7-in-1 Multi-Use Pressure Cooker · 6 Qt
The maker's own listing carries no price, and Amazon.com sells the Duo 6 qt at a regular price of $109.99. It needs no installer and no removal, and its warranty text says plainly that the buyer may be asked to send the appliance in for inspection and that Instant Pot is not responsible for shipping costs related to warranty service.
Before you buy: The maker's shipping-policy and refund-policy addresses both return 404, and the cooker's page prints no weight, so the cost of getting the box to the door and back is the one line this maker leaves blank.

A large appliance is bought once and moved four times: off the truck, through the door, into its opening and, for the machine it replaces, back out again. Each move has a term attached on the maker's service pages, and the terms are where two items with the same price stop being the same purchase. IKEA prices its large item delivery in four tiers from $29 to $79 for a non-member, and every tier ends outside the home or in one room; not one tier connects anything.
Removal is priced separately again, at $30 for a mattress, sofa or appliance bought in store with in-home delivery, in select markets, and IKEA says the pickup is not guaranteed for the same date as the delivery. An online order carries no removal option. So the ledger for any large IKEA item has at least three lines below the price, and the way to read a $399 sticker is to fill them in for a specific ZIP code before deciding that the number is low.
The LAGAN: $399, then a tier, a cord, an installer and a $30 pickup
IKEA lists the LAGAN at $399.00 and packages it at 96 lb 2 oz, which is under the 300 lb limit for Standard delivery from $29, or $19 with an IKEA Family card, to the outside of the home or a building lobby. Getting an 82 lb machine from the lobby to the kitchen is the buyer's move unless the order steps up to Scheduled In-Home at $69, or $59 for members, which ends in one room of the buyer's choosing. Delivery to CT, MA, NJ, RI or NY starts $10 to $20 higher at every tier, and an adult must be present.
In the kitchen the terms keep going. The carton has no cord or plug, and IKEA's product text hands the installation to a qualified installer, so a cord kit and a trade visit are two more lines. The warranty term is printed two ways. IKEA's warranty listing names only TILLREDA as outside the "IKEA 5-year limited warranty", and the LAGAN manual gives five years from purchase with the receipt as proof, but "a 2-year guarantee" for LAGAN appliances bought before May 1, 2026. The product page, read on October 5, 2026, prints "5 year limited warranty" under Product features and "2-year warranty" in its details text, pointing to the warranty brochure.
Coverage has holes that stay the buyer's cost. Excluded are service calls that turn out to be installation faults, pick up and delivery, since the appliance "is intended to be repaired in your home", and the removal and reinstallation of a unit fitted somewhere inaccessible. Appliance removal for the old machine is $30, in store only, with in-home delivery. Added up, a $399 dishwasher delivered to the room, installed by a trade and rid of its predecessor is $399 plus a delivery tier, a cord, an installer's fee and $30, and only the first of those has a fixed number on IKEA's site.
The VALEVÅG: the same $399 with a roll that lets the buyer skip the truck
The VALEVÅG Queen is $399 and leaves the store as one roll 65 3/4 inches long by 16 1/4 inches across at 76 lb 12 oz, which is the reason a mattress can be carried home in a hatchback while a dishwasher cannot. A buyer who does that has struck the delivery line from the ledger entirely. A buyer who pays for Scheduled In-Home delivery from $69, or Express from $79, gets a term the dishwasher never receives: IKEA's delivery page says a mattress provider will set it up and remove all the packaging.
Removal of the old mattress follows the same $30 in-store rule as an appliance, with one difference set by law. In CA, CT, OR and RI IKEA's delivery page lists mattress removal as free with delivery, and the removal page applies a state recycling fee at purchase there. The exchange policy adds a fourth line: a one-time swap within 90 days is free to collect and redeliver if the mattress was home delivered, but it is a swap, and any trade-down goes onto a refund card. The mattress and the dishwasher share a sticker; the mattress gives the buyer two ways to pay less below it and the dishwasher gives none.
Two countertop units: parcel shipping, no installer, and a warranty that states who pays shipping
Zojirushi lists the NS-TSC10 at $229.99 with shipping and handling included on its online store, and its shipping policy describes a parcel: USPS is named as a carrier, a signature may be required, and deliveries can take up to 24 days from label creation. Electric products ship to the continental US only and a written cancellation is accepted for one hour after ordering. There is no installer and no old unit to remove. Its warranty is the most explicit of the four: after a phone call for a return authorization, Zojirushi's terms read "This warranty includes shipping fees. Packaging fees are not included." It does not specify which legs, and a unit found not defective comes back "at your expense".
The Duo 6 qt removes the same three jobs and replaces them with one open question that starts before checkout: the maker's own listing shows a SKU and a link to its retailer list but no price and no cart control. Amazon has it In Stock at a regular price of $109.99 with its "Ships from" and "Sold by" lines both reading Amazon.com, and on October 4, 2026 a deal price of $69.99 marked "exclusively for Amazon Prime members" sat beside that figure.
Its warranty text states that a buyer may be asked to send the appliance to the Service Department for inspection and that Instant Pot Brands is not responsible for shipping costs related to warranty service, so a claim on a 6 quart cooker travels at the owner's expense. The maker's shipping-policy and refund-policy addresses both return 404 and the cooker's page prints no weight, so the cost of the outbound parcel is left blank. The countertop unit erases the truck, the installer and the pickup; it does not erase the ledger, it shrinks it to one line, and only one of these two makers has filled that line in.
When the ledger is the wrong thing to optimize
Skip the arithmetic when the item is going into a home with a truck-accessible door, a trade already booked and no old machine in the way. A kitchen remodel that has an installer on site absorbs the LAGAN's blank lines into a job that was being paid for anyway, and the $399 sticker is then close to the landed cost. Likewise a mattress bought for a room that is empty has nothing to remove, and a car with the back seats down settles the delivery line at zero.
Skip the countertop comparison as a substitute for the large purchase. A rice cooker and a pressure cooker do not wash dishes or replace a bed; they are here because their terms show what a parcel-sized box removes from the ledger, not because they answer the same need. The place this reading pays off is a first apartment or a rental, where the buyer has no truck, no trade and an old unit to get rid of, and where a $399 appliance delivered to the room, connected and cleared away can run well past the sticker once IKEA's tiers, the installer and the $30 removal are written down.
