MSR's cheapest adult snowshoe sells for $179.95, but it comes in one 22-inch length rated at up to 180 pounds. Above that weight, the $59.95 Evo Tails are part of the purchase — $239.90 for the pair.

Twelve 0.41-inch stainless spikes per foot on welded chains, a harness rated to -22°F and a four-year defect warranty for $89.95. Against a $22.49 coil cleat, the question is what kind of ice you walk on.
Yaktrax sells the Walk for $22.49 with 1.2 mm steel coils, a stretch band and a 90-day defect warranty. The same site says the coils are not for gravel, concrete, sanded roads or indoor floors, and that warning decides who should own a pair.
