IKEA lists a width of 16⅞ inches and a thickness of 9/16 inch for this version. The main body is lacquered solid wood with a galvanized steel hook. These dimensions are more useful shopping information than an assumption that all adult garments suit the same hanger.
Hold the hanger against the shoulders of the clothes it is meant for. A jacket that sits badly does not sit better because the row behind it now matches. Knitwear that should be folded is a separate answer entirely.
A thicker hanger has a cost that is not on the price tag
At the published thickness, eight empty hanger bodies account for about 4.5 inches before allowing room for clothing, spacing, and the actual way hooks settle on a rail. That is only an illustrative calculation, not a measured wardrobe capacity.
On a packed rail, swapping everything to a thicker hanger makes retrieval worse, not better. Hang the trial pack where it will live and check you can still lift a shirt out and put it back. A mixed rail that works beats a uniform one you have to fight.
Inspect the finish before trusting it with delicate fabric
The design includes grooves intended for hanging straps, and IKEA advises wiping the hanger clean and dry. Those features do not establish that every finish is equally smooth or that every strap will remain in place under all handling conditions.
