Kelty Loveseat Review: $149.95 Against $59.90, and the Difference Is Legs

Two $29.95 Kelty Camp Chairs fold to 1.5 inches and rest on the ground; the $149.95 Loveseat stands on a 600-pound steel frame. The $90.05 buys legs and a seat pan for two; the chair's own weight is a figure Kelty leaves off its page.

The Kelty Loveseat in Bungee Cord, opened and facing forward on a plain white background: a dark brown upper back panel with an orange Kelty triangle logo at its upper left, a mid-brown lower back and one-piece seat, a matte red round-tube steel frame crossing beneath the seat, black plastic feet on every leg, and a brown fabric beverage holder at the end of each armrest

THE SHORT VERSION

Kelty listed the Loveseat at $149.95 on 2026-09-25 in two colorways, Bungee Cord (SKU 61510525BNG) and Deep Lake (61510519DPL), and both showed in stock with no markdown on either. What the page is willing to publish is short: a 600 lb / 272 kg weight capacity and a 19 in / 48 cm seat height. The rest sits in the bullet list — a steel frame under 600D polyester, two insulated holders that adjust from a can up to an extra-large bottle, armrests that move, and a padded roll-tote for the folded chair.

Two of Kelty's $29.95 Camp Chairs cost $59.90, so the Loveseat asks $90.05 more than a pair. The Camp Chair is not a smaller version of the same object, though. It is a fold-flat pad with a backrest, 1 lb 2 oz of it, and it puts its owner on the ground or on a bench. Which of those two shapes you can live with settles it, along with a weight and a packed size Kelty does not print for the Loveseat at all.

Our verdict

Buy the $149.95 Loveseat for two campers who want one seat 19 inches off the ground with 600 lb under it; buy two $29.95 Camp Chairs when sitting on the ground is fine.

A good fit for
Two people who camp from a vehicle, want one shared seat with an armrest and an insulated holder each, and have trunk room for a roll about three feet long.
We would skip it if
Solo campers, backpackers, and anyone who would rather split two $29.95 Camp Chairs between two cars or a bleacher, or whose two riders want separate back angles.

Reasons to consider it

  • 600 lb / 272 kg on a steel frame — 275 pounds more than one Camp Chair's published 325-pound capacity and 200 more than the $99.95 Deluxe Lounge Chair's 400
  • Two insulated holders, one per armrest, that adjust in size from a can to an extra-large water bottle, with armrests that move up and down
  • Both colorways were in stock at $149.95 on 2026-09-25 — Bungee Cord (SKU 61510525BNG) and Deep Lake (61510519DPL) — with no discount shown on either

The compromises

  • Kelty prints no product weight, no open dimensions and no packed size for this chair; the store's product data carries 7,961 g / 17.55 lb against each colorway, a freight figure rather than a printed spec, and Amazon's listing gives 16.3 lb
  • Two $29.95 Camp Chairs cost $59.90, weigh 1 lb 2 oz each and fold to 1.5 inches, so the Loveseat is the one that stays in the vehicle
  • One back angle for both riders on a single seat pan, and furniture sits in the one-year tier of Kelty's warranty rather than the lifetime tier its tents and sleeping bags get

What we have not verified: Kelty publishes neither a packed size nor a seat or back width for the Loveseat, so how long the folded chair runs and how much room each of two adults actually gets are unmeasured here. The 17.55 lb figure comes out of the store's freight field, not a published spec. The $29.95 Camp Chair's spec table prints a 19.5-inch seat height that its own folded size, its 1 lb 2 oz weight and its photographs contradict, so the two-chair call rests on capacity, weight, folded dimensions and the pictures. Amazon's listing for the Bungee Cord SKU showed $142.94 from a third-party seller, Style Lounge LLC, on 2026-09-25, with 16.3 lb and 44 by 23.5 by 37 inches in its details; those are the retailer's figures, not Kelty's.

Buy it when two people want one seat off the ground, not two pads on it

Loveseat · 61510525BNG

Both colorways were in stock at $149.95 on 2026-09-25; the steel frame is rated to 600 lb / 272 kg, the seat sits 19 in / 48 cm up, the single 600D polyester pan carries both riders, and each armrest holds an insulated beverage holder that adjusts from a can to an extra-large bottle.

Before you buy: Kelty prints no weight, no open dimensions and no packed size for this chair at all. The three other two-seaters in the line that do print one run 34 x 11 x 7 in, 34.5 x 11 x 11 in and 43 x 10 x 8 in, from 15.38 to 17 lb — a roll that rides across a trunk floor, not a bag that goes on a back.

The $59.90 pair is two pads, not two chairs

Camp Chair's own listing prices it at $29.95 in two colorways, both in stock on the same day, and its spec table reads 1 lb 2 oz, a 325-pound capacity, 19.5 x 19.5 x 17 inches unfolded and 19.5 x 17 x 1.5 inches folded. The materials line names 600D polyester and composite stays instead of a frame, and the bullet list promises closed-cell foam padding plus an adjustable, angled seat position. Kelty's photographs show what that adds up to: a quilted pad with a backrest, a webbing handle at the top and a strap at each end. The closed shot is a flat slab.

One entry in that table does not survive contact with the others. Kelty gives the Camp Chair a seat height of 19.5 inches against the Loveseat's 19, which would make the $29.95 seat the taller of the two. The same table lists a 17-inch unfolded height and a folded thickness of an inch and a half, and the photographs show the seat resting where its strap puts it, on the ground. Read the field as unusable and judge the pair on what is consistent: 2 lb 4 oz together, about three inches of foam stacked, two backrests, no legs.

What the $90.05 buys

The rating comes first. The Loveseat's steel frame carries 600 lb / 272 kg, which is 275 pounds more than one Camp Chair's 325 and 200 more than the $99.95 Deluxe Lounge Chair's 400. The seat pan is a single span of 600D polyester across both riders with no divider and an armrest at each end of it, and 19 inches is a tall seat for this class: the Deluxe Lounge Chair matches it, and the Low Loveseat, which costs the same $149.95, puts its seat 13.5 inches up.

Then the small parts, the ones a campfire evening actually uses. Two insulated holders, one at each armrest, adjust in size from a can to an extra-large water bottle, and both armrests move up and down. The folded chair ships with the padded roll-tote storage named in the bullets. No single one of those closes the gap on its own; together with the frame and the shared pan they are what the money is for, and the $59.90 pair has no equivalent for any of them.

The weight and the packed size Kelty leaves off the page

This chair's spec list holds two entries and neither is a weight. No product weight, no open dimensions, no packed size. The store's product data carries 7,961 grams, or 17.55 pounds, against each colorway, and that field is a freight number rather than a scale reading. Amazon's listing for the same Bungee Cord SKU gives 16.3 lb and 44 by 23.5 by 37 inches open, a retailer's figure rather than Kelty's. Kelty does print those numbers for the rest of the two-seaters. The Low Loveseat gives 15.38 lb / 6.97 kg beside a packed size of 34.5 x 11 x 11 inches, the Low-Loveseat Nest 17 lb / 7.7 kg beside 34 x 11 x 7 inches, and the Rad Loveseat, $239.95, 17 lb beside 43 x 10 x 8 inches.

All three of those packs run at least 34 inches long. Two Camp Chairs stack to roughly three inches of foam at 2 lb 4 oz in total, under a seventh of either weight figure this chair carries. The Loveseat travels in a vehicle, not on a back.

The other $149.95, and where the rest of the line sits

Kelty's Furniture & Camp Life collection holds twelve products and spans $29.95 to $239.95, and two other items in it sit at the Loveseat's exact price. The Low Loveseat also costs $149.95 and carries the same 600 lb rating on a frame that puts the seat 13.5 inches off the ground. The Lowdown Cot Fern lists at $149.95 too, and it is a cot rather than a second seat. Between the two same-priced seats, the difference is 19 inches of seat height against 13.5.

Single seats bracket the Loveseat from both sides. The $79.95 Essential Chair is rated to 300 lb with a 16.5-inch seat, the $79.95 Lowdown Chair to 400 lb at 12 inches, and the $99.95 Deluxe Lounge Chair to 400 lb at 19 inches with three recline positions, two holders and a 9 x 9 x 39.5-inch pack at 10 lb 5 oz. Two Deluxe Lounge Chairs run $199.90, so $49.95 over the Loveseat buys each rider a back angle of their own. Aluminum is the step above: the $169.95 Rad-Arondack Chair at 325 lb, its $99.95 table, and the $239.95 Rad Loveseat, 500 lb on a patent-pending frame at 17 lb.

When one seat is enough

Skip the Loveseat if you camp alone, if the chair has to travel on a back or inside a suitcase, or if the two people in camp would rather have their own armrests and their own back angle. The pan is one piece, the angle is shared, and there is no recline anywhere in this chair to adjust. A pair of Camp Chairs also splits across two vehicles, which one wide seat cannot do.

The case for the pair is narrow but real: $59.90, 2 lb 4 oz together, a fold thin enough to disappear behind a car seat, and two seats that work on the ground, on a bench or in a bleacher row.

One year on furniture, not a lifetime

Kelty sorts its warranty by product type, and furniture lands in the short tier: twelve months against manufacturing defects. Lighting, trekking poles, sleeping pads, coolers, airbeds, drinkware, apparel and accessories sit in the same bracket, and it runs from the name on the receipt through a seller Kelty authorized. Tents, backpacks and sleeping bags are the ones with the open-ended term, written as the reasonable life of the covered product. A camp chair gets twelve months.

The conditions sit on the same page. A receipt from a seller Kelty has authorized is required, coverage reaches US buyers plus the Canadian sales Kelty approved, and the call between repairing and replacing is Kelty's. The exclusions are named one by one: weather damage with wind and rain written in, negligence and poor care, accident, normal wear and tear, and the natural breakdown of colors and materials over extended time and use. Past the year, the page itself answers with a repair at a reasonable rate and shipping charged to the owner.
