In this guide
FolkArt Multi-Surface is Plaid's acrylic for projects that mix materials: a formula with added grip so it holds on glass, ceramic and metal as well as on wood, paper and terra cotta. The Celebrations set packs ten 2-ounce bottles of it, eight satin colors plus Metallic Silver and Gold, and plaidonline.com prints its Regular Price as $15.99, in stock under SKU 7510, with an $11.19 special showing on 2026-10-04. The bottles are made in the USA.
For seasonal work the formula matters more than the count. An ornament, a painted mug or a tin that will be handled, gifted and eventually washed needs paint that stays put on a slick surface, and Plaid's description promises exactly that, including a top-shelf dishwasher claim once the film has cured. What the description leaves out is how long that cure takes, and what the color list leaves out is anything dark. Both gaps shape who this set suits.
Our verdict
A sensible $15.99 starter set for glass baubles, ceramic mugs or metal tins that will be handled and washed, with two metallics for the seasonal work. Check the pastel-heavy palette and the unstated cure time against your calendar first.
- A good fit for
- A first set for glass, ceramic and metal ornaments or gift pieces that need a satin finish, a dishwasher-tolerant film and no separate primer
- We would skip it if
- The project needs black, navy or a deep evergreen, the pieces must go into a dishwasher within days of painting, or the work is only on paper and wood where a plain craft acrylic costs less
Reasons to consider it
- Multi-surface formula with added grip for glass, ceramic and metal, so no separate primer for slick ornaments
- Ten 2 oz bottles including Metallic Silver and Gold for $1.60 each at the regular price, with Plaid's coverage guide of roughly 8 square feet per bottle in thin coats
- Both applicable safety sheets report no GHS label elements and no respiratory protection or special ventilation required
The compromises
- The Celebrations palette has no black, no blue and no dark green; Apple Red and Bright Green are the only saturated holiday colors
- Plaid says top-shelf dishwasher safe when cured but publishes no cure period on the set page or in its help center
- The lower number beside the regular price comes from a dated sitewide promotion rather than from this set, and Plaid's shipping policy warns that prices can change without notice
What we have not verified: No bottle was opened; opacity per coat on dark glass, how the metallics level, and how the satin film behaves after repeated dishwasher cycles were not assessed. The dry time of 10 to 30 minutes comes from Plaid's FAQ for its Classics acrylic set, not from a multi-surface page, and the multi-surface cure period was not found anywhere on plaidonline.com or its help center.

Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint 10 Color Set, Celebrations (7510)
Ten 2 oz bottles of a grip-formulated acrylic at $15.99 regular, with two metallics, a satin finish, soap-and-water cleanup and a dishwasher-tolerant film, which covers most ornament and gift-tin projects without a primer or a sealer.
Before you buy: No dark colors in the box, no published cure period behind the dishwasher claim, and a special price that Plaid can withdraw without notice.
Price checked October 4, 2026. Retailer prices can change.A grip formula for slick surfaces, and what that buys you
Plaid's help center defines Multi-Surface as a do-it-all acrylic with added grip, meant for projects that mix porous and slick materials. The set page lists wood, terra cotta, canvas, glass, fabric, ceramics, paper, metal and plastic, and describes the dried film as satin, suitable indoors and out, and top-shelf dishwasher safe once cured. For a plain craft acrylic, glass and glazed ceramic are the surfaces that fail first, because the paint sits on the glaze and lifts with a fingernail. The grip claim is the whole case for paying more for this line over Plaid's cheaper Classics acrylics.
The help articles add the practical rules the set page omits. Slick items should be cleaned and lightly scuffed so the paint holds; coats should be thin and even, with longer waits between layers on glass and ceramic so the film sets; fabric accents need 24 hours to dry and a heat-set from the reverse side. A sealer is optional indoors and recommended for pieces that are handled often or kept outside. A brushed mug or a painted bauble sits in the handled-often group, so the sealer Plaid names is a separate bottle to budget for, not something in this box.
Ten colors, and the four that do the seasonal work
The Celebrations list is Wicker White, Baby Pink, Light Lavender, Daffodil Yellow, Apple Red, Pure Orange, Bright Green, Teddy Bear Brown, Metallic Silver and Gold. Read as a holiday kit, four of those carry the load: Apple Red and Bright Green for December, Pure Orange with Teddy Bear Brown for October and November, and the two metallics for lettering, rims and highlights across all of them. Wicker White is the base coat for everything on dark glass. Baby Pink, Light Lavender and Daffodil Yellow belong to spring and birthdays, which is the celebration the set name has in mind.
What is missing is as important as what is present. There is no black for outlines, no navy or royal blue for a winter sky, and no deep evergreen; Bright Green is a grass shade. Mixing Teddy Bear Brown into Bright Green darkens it, and the help center confirms FolkArt lines intermix, but a tree-green ornament from this box alone is a compromise. A buyer planning snowmen, gingerbread and candy canes has the colors; a buyer planning a nativity, a night scene or anything black-and-gold should add a bottle of Licorice or a dark blue from the same line.
Dishwasher safe when cured, with the cure left blank
Plaid repeats the dishwasher claim twice on the set page, both times with the qualifier when cured, and nowhere on that page or in the multi-surface help articles gives a number of days. The nearest figure Plaid publishes is for its Classics acrylic set, where the FAQ estimates 10 to 30 minutes for a thin coat to dry to the touch and suggests a hair dryer on low to speed it up; that is dry time for a different formula, not cure time for this one. A painted mug given on the 25th and washed on the 26th is a guess about a period Plaid has not stated.
The safe reading for seasonal work is to treat the cure as weeks, paint early, and hand wash anything that has to be used before the film has had time to harden. Thin coats help twice: the help center says they bond better on slick surfaces, and a thin film hardens through sooner than a thick one. Plaid's advice to allow more time between layers on glass and ceramic also means a two-color ornament takes a full session longer than the same design on wood. None of this makes the set unsuitable for gifts; it makes the calendar part of the materials list.
Two safety sheets, no label elements, soap-and-water cleanup
The set spans two of Plaid's safety data sheets: one for the Multi-Surface Satin colors, dated 6/7/2022, and one for the Multi-Surface Metallic and Pearl colors, dated 4/29/2024, which covers the Silver and Gold bottles. Both classify the paint under 29 CFR 1910.1200 with no GHS label elements, list no hazardous ingredients, and state that no respiratory protection, special ventilation, gloves or goggles are required. Both mark the product as not combustible and not classified as hazardous waste. For a kitchen-table session with children in the room, that is as clean as a paint sheet gets.
Cleanup is soap and warm water while the paint is wet, per both the set page and the help center, and Plaid advises storing bottles sealed and upright. Neither sheet names the SKU, so the coverage is by product family, and the sheets are dated documents that may not reflect a later reformulation. The set page carries no age recommendation and no toy-safety marking, so the sheets are the only safety wording available, and they describe the liquid, not a child's habit of chewing a brush.
$15.99 on paper, a sale price with an end date, and a 10-to-14-day ground window
Plaid's own price for this set is the Regular Price line, $15.99, which is $1.60 a bottle; on 2026-10-04 the same page showed a Special Price of $11.19 under a sitewide Friends & Family promotion it dates to 10/8/2026, with no code needed, no stacking and clearance excluded. That is a dated promotion on one channel, not this set's price. Plaid's shipping policy states that cart prices follow whatever the item's detail page shows at the time and that prices change without notice to reflect promotions, so $15.99 is the figure to plan against and the special is whatever the page happens to carry the day you look.
For comparison, Plaid's Classics value set of plain FolkArt acrylics holds twelve bottles, so the multi-surface set's price goes to the grip formula rather than the bottle count. Delivery is the slower part: ground orders are quoted at 10 to 14 business days, expedited at 4 and express at 3, and Plaid does not ship outside the US or hold backorders. A set ordered in early December by ground may arrive after the ornaments were due, which is another argument for buying seasonal paint in the off season.
Skip it for paper-only projects, dark palettes or a same-week wash
If the work is entirely on paper, cardstock and raw wood, the grip formula is paying for a problem you do not have, and Plaid's own Classics set delivers twelve bottles of plain acrylic. If the design needs black outlines, a night sky or a deep evergreen, this box cannot produce them without mixing, and a single extra bottle from the Multi-Surface line is the fix. And if the painted mug or plate has to survive a dishwasher this week, the unstated cure period makes that a risk Plaid has not priced.
For the buyer who is painting glass baubles, ceramic tags and metal tins in October for December, with a hand-wash rule until the new year, the set does what its description says. Buy it early, paint thin, keep the metallics for the last layer, and add the sealer Plaid recommends if the pieces will be handled every day.
