In this guide
For years every Peak Design phone case carried a rounded square on the back, the SlimLink mount that locks the phone onto the brand's bike, motorcycle and tripod hardware. The Everyday Case for iPhone drops it. Peak Design describes the change plainly: the squircle is gone for a cleaner look and a lower price, and everything else about its cases is meant to carry over. The result costs $39.95 in fabric or Clarino for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, against $49.95 for the equivalent SlimLink Case.
Whether that saving is a bargain or a mistake depends on one thing, and Peak Design answers it itself. The maker's comparison panel calls SlimLink the more capable choice and tells buyers to pick the Everyday Case only when they specifically want a slimmer MagSafe-only profile and do not need the extra hold. This review takes that guidance at face value and works through what the $39.95 case gives you, what it does not, and how the guarantee behind it reads.
Our verdict
A well-built MagSafe case at a fair $39.95 for people who charge on a desk and never mount the phone on a bike or a dashboard; anyone who does should pay $10 more for the SlimLink version.
- A good fit for
- An iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max owner who wants a thin fabric or vegan-leather case with a real bumper, strap anchors and a lifetime guarantee, and who uses MagSafe only for charging and wallets.
- We would skip it if
- You ride with the phone on handlebars or a car mount, you own a phone other than the 18 Pro or Pro Max, or you want the slimmest case possible with no bumper at all.
Reasons to consider it
- 2.4 mm rear wall with a full-surround TPU bumper, a protective lip and a 2 m drop rating
- Machined aluminum buttons, a responsive Camera Control button and built-in anchors for straps
- Lifetime guarantee, Fair Trade certification and three shell materials from $39.95
The compromises
- MagSafe only: no mechanical lock, so Peak Design's own bike, motorcycle and SlimLink mounts will not hold it
- Sold only for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max at the time of this check, not the base iPhone 18
- Peak Design does not guarantee compatibility with all Qi chargers or all screen protectors
What we have not verified: No case was handled here, so grip of the fabric, how the Clarino wears, magnet strength on a charger and the fit with specific screen protectors were not assessed. Peak Design's feature list still carries a SlimLink line copied from its other cases, so the exact feature set was cross-checked against the SlimLink guidance panel instead.
The things in this guide
A closer look at the products, who they may suit, and what to check before buying.

Everyday Case for iPhone 18 Pro, Charcoal
A 2.4 mm shell with a full-surround bumper, aluminum buttons, strap anchors and MagSafe magnets, backed by Peak Design's lifetime guarantee, for $39.95 in Charcoal, Sage, Ocean and three Clarino colors.
Before you buy: No SlimLink lock means no Peak Design bike or motorcycle mounts, only two iPhone models are supported, and Qi charger and screen protector compatibility is not guaranteed.
Price checked September 11, 2026. Retailer prices can change.MagSafe only, and the maker says so twice
SlimLink is Peak Design's magnet-plus-catch system: strong magnets pull the phone onto a mount, and a physical latch keeps it there through vibration and bumps. The Everyday Case has the magnets and not the latch. It will snap onto any MagSafe charger, wallet or stand, including Peak Design's own MagSafe-compatible accessories, but it will not hard-lock into a SlimLink bike mount, motorcycle mount or the Creator Kit. Peak Design's comparison panel says the case is better suited to lighter, lower-motion use and calls SlimLink the more capable choice.
The price difference is $10: the SlimLink Case for the same two phones starts at $49.95 against $39.95 here. Readers who own any Peak Design mount, or plan to, should treat that as the cost of admission and not the saving. One wrinkle: the Everyday Case's feature list still includes a line about built-in magnetic and mechanical locking technology called SlimLink, which contradicts the guidance panel and the product description on the same page. The description and the comparison panel are the more specific documents, and this review follows them.
Three shells, three prices, two phones
Peak Design offers the shell in three materials. Versa Shell is a 100% recycled, Bluesign-approved nylon canvas, sold in Charcoal, Sage and Ocean at $39.95. Clarino is a microfiber vegan leather made from post-industrial waste, sold in Redwood, Dusk and Cirrus at the same $39.95. Full-grain ECCO leather, cut from scraps of the brand's strap production and gold-rated by the Leather Working Group, comes in Black and Amber at $59.95. An Everyday Loop Case with a deployable finger loop is $49.95 and exists only in the three fabric colors.
All of this is for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max and nothing older or smaller; the variant list at the time of this check had no base iPhone 18 entry. Stock was healthy for most colors, with Charcoal deepest at 903 units for the Pro and 968 for the Pro Max, while Cirrus Clarino sat at 71 and 73 units and Dusk Clarino for the Pro at 89. The Everyday Case is also the case Peak Design uses to open its ecosystem to buyers after the straps, wallets and chargers without the mount hardware.
A 2.4 mm wall, a thicker bumper at the bottom
The body is polycarbonate with a rear wall 2.4 mm thick. The TPU bumper runs 3.4 mm on the sides and top and 5.6 mm at the bottom, which is where phones usually land, and a raised lip surrounds both the screen and the camera lenses. Peak Design rates the case for 2 m (6 ft) drops. Weight is 40 g (1.4 oz), with a stated variation of plus or minus 4 g by phone model. The buttons are machined and anodized aluminum, the Camera Control button is described as fully responsive, and both sides carry anchor points for Peak Design Mobile straps and third-party straps.
Two compatibility notes are printed on the page and deserve the same weight as the specs. Peak Design does not guarantee that the case works with all third-party chargers, even Qi-certified ones, and says it works with many but not all screen protectors, pointing to its support center for a list. The contents line reads simply one Everyday Case, and the description promises construction improvements that make these the most durable Peak Design cases yet, a claim that no published figure can confirm.
Lifetime cover, refurbished replacements, a fee to return
The case falls under Peak Design's lifetime guarantee, which covers manufacturing defects and failures that leave part or all of the product non-functional. It does not cover scratches, stains, wear or damage from misuse, and Peak Design is candid that replacements may come from open-box, gently used or refurbished stock in the same or better condition, quality-checked and carrying the same guarantee. A claim opens by registering the product in a Peak Design account, and the policy states that items bought on secondhand marketplaces are not covered, so hold onto the order record.
Returns run 30 days on everything except apparel. US returns use a service called Frate at a flat fee that the FAQ summary does not put a number on, which on a $39.95 case is worth asking about before ordering a color you are unsure of. US orders above $99 ship at no charge, so a single case ships at a charge unless it rides along with something larger, and Peak Design quotes US delivery in 2 to 7 days.
Skip it if a mount is anywhere in your future
Pass on the Everyday Case if there is any chance the phone ends up on handlebars, a motorcycle bar or a car dash. Peak Design's guidance is explicit that the MagSafe-only hold is for lighter, lower-motion use, and its own mounts are built around the lock this case lacks. The $10 saved over the SlimLink Case buys nothing if you later need the hardware, and the two cases look nearly identical from the front.
Also pass if you carry a base iPhone 18 or any earlier model, since only the 18 Pro and Pro Max are listed, or if you want a case with no bumper at all; the 5.6 mm bottom edge is the point of this design, not a compromise. For anybody else, a $39.95 case with a lifetime guarantee, strap anchors and a Fair Trade label is a reasonable way to spend the money.
